Life in the Red Sea

Exodus 14:21-22

Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD drove back the sea with a strong east wind all night long and turned the sea into dry ground. The waters were split,

so that the Israelites entered into the midst of the sea on dry land, with the water as a wall to their right and to their left.

And so it is today for each one of us who are on this same journey with Moses. We are crossing the land to the promised land, eternal life which is Heaven. Heaven is to be with God.1 The Red Sea which is parted to our left and to our right are the waters of Baptism, purifying waters. God's holy water. Pharaoh, Satan, is chasing us, trying to catch us, trying to get us to turn around and look at him, look at ourselves and to take our focus off God, off of our goal, which is eternal life with God.

Each situation, trial, challenge, offense, sin committed either by us or against us become the stumbling blocks in our path. They appear before us, we get focused on them, they begin to take all our thoughts, energy and cause us to worry which makes us then turn and look in on ourselves and we are face to face with satan again.

Instead, in order to remain focused on our goal, eternal life with God, we take each situation, trial, challenge, offense, sin committed either by us or against us and take them into your hands, pray in that moment with them, love them and then trust that God will love them more than I ever could and God can heal the situation if only I give it to Him. So, we toss those trials, offenses etc.. back into the purifying waters of Baptism to allow God control of the situation, challenge or persons who have come into our daily path of life.

In doing this, we keep all people, distractions, challenges and offenses in our peripheral vision as we remain God focused. As we walk the path through the parting of the Red Sea heading to God.

End note 1: The Promised Land, eternal life, Heaven is to be with God. To have a taste of this life now, today, to be with God face to face is to sit before Him in Adoration, with His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in our midst that we may receive from His goodness and to be at and participate in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. This is to taste Heaven on Earth.
